Committees

The Membership Committee works on internal organizing, creating new members in every workplace and enabling our existing members to be more active in the Local and in the workplace.

• Fights for workers' political power giving you a chance to have your voice - and the issues you care about - heard at the local, state and national levels of government.

• Voluntary contributions to the fund to go toward policies and candidates that defend workers' rights.

The Events Committee brings our union together by planning and coordinating events that foster camaraderie, solidarity, and community engagement. From bake-offs and holiday parties to picnics and more, our goal is to create a sense of belonging and unity among members.

• Educates on health, economic and social issues that affect women.

• Encourages and supports women in fighting at the local, state and national level for legislation designed to improve the status of working women and their families.

• Promotes and encourages women to run for elected public office and support candidates.

• Strives continuously to educate women on the labor movement while encouraging their involvement at all levels.

• Promotes the awareness of occupational and environmental safety and health issues and concerns,

• Trains CWA members in occupational safety and health recognition and control

• Develops an ongoing comprehensive workplace safety and health program.

• Works to fully integrate civil rights issues with core work of the union.

• Increases grassroots activity on civil rights issues.

• Increases community visibility of CWA Civil Rights and Equity program.

• Improves communications between CWA Civil Rights and Equity office and locals and activist.

• Aggressively seeks CWA representation in grassroots civil rights organizations that share our common goals.
